Meg Ryan reacts to plastic surgery, 'unrecognizable' comments

She’ll have what they’re having.

Meg Ryan has finally addressed her critics, after fans lamented her apparent “bad and bizarre” apparent plastic surgery.

In a new interview with Glamour published on Thursday, Ryan, 62, did not directly confirm that she’s had plastic surgery, but she discussed how she feels about the tabloid speculation, and the headlines about her “unrecognizable” face.

“I can’t pay attention to it. I just can’t,” she said. “It’s not worth it. Of course that would hurt someone’s feelings, but there are so many more interesting things to think about. Meanness and hatred are just so stupid.”

Ryan has two kids: a college aged adopted daughter, Daisy True, and “The Boys” star son Jack Quaid, 31, with her ex-husband, Dennis Quaid, 69 (who she married from 1991 to 2001).

Ryan told the outlet that she and Dennis both noticed Jack’s affinity for acting early on.

“I remember seeing him in a middle school production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ He was playing Bottom,” she said, referring to Jack.

“I was newly divorced from his dad, and he was seated at the other side of the gym. I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘Oh, no. He’s good. He’s really good,’” she says. “I leaned forward, and I see Dennis, and he’s also leaning forward with his head in his hands.”

Her dismay was knowing the hardships of an acting career in the public eye, she said.

“You don’t wish it [on anyone]. It’s too hard and it’s too weird,” she  explained.  “Jack is really talented. He’s more of a natural than I’ll ever be. That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.”

Earlier this month, fans celebrated Ryan returning to her first movie in eight years – the romantic drama  “What Happens Later,” with David Duchovny, 63, now in theaters.

But, fans lamented what the “When Harry Met Sally” and “Sleepless and Seattle” star appeared to have work done to her face.

“Great to see Meg Ryan back with her bread and butter but lord I wish she didn’t mess with her face,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Rename the film . . . What Happens With Meg Ryan’s Face,” quipped another fan.

“I’m not going to have anything done to my face. I’m afraid of ending up looking like a trout. All the women in Hollywood do. They all start to look the same at a certain point. Poor Meg Ryan for instance. She was so cute,” added another fan.

Although Ryan has never admitted to going under the knife, celebrity facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sam Rizk  told the Post earlier this month, “She’s a mess. I think she had a bad facelift in the wrong direction, sideways, instead of vertical.”

The telltale sign is her mouth, he said.

“When she was younger, her mouth was smaller,” he said.

“Look at her mouth in ‘Top Gun.’ Now, it’s twice the size. The only way a mouth can get bigger as you get older . . . is if it’s pulled sideways. She’s got filler in her lips. And they’re more filled on the side…She has doughy cheeks that were never there before. Cheeks never get bigger as you get older,” explained Rizk, who operated on “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Jennifer Fessler

Ryan appeared to wave off the scrutiny.

“Our culture is so obsessed with youth,” she said. “As an old person now, I love my age. I love where I’m at. Aging is not that terrifying. We’re all doing it. I wish someone had told me earlier, ‘Just relax. It is what it is. Don’t pay attention to the obstacles.’”
